Walk-In Tattoos in Salt Lake City, Utah

Some tattoos are planned for months. Some happen the day you decide. When one of our artists has time open, we take walk-ins — first come, first served.

Same-day tattoos, two ways

You can walk in: come to 145 South 400 East in downtown Salt Lake City, check in at the front desk, and if an artist's chair is open, it is yours. Openings fill as the day goes, so earlier is better.

Or you can lock it in: our same-day booking page lists today's real openings. Book one from your phone and skip the wait-and-see.

What fits a walk-in

Walk-ins work best for pieces that can be finished in one sitting:

Flash — Ready-made designs off our artists' flash sheets. Pick one and sit down.

Small custom work — Your own small idea: a flower, a symbol, a pet portrait in miniature, a little scene.

Lettering and script — Words, dates, and short quotes, drawn clean so they stay readable.

Fine line and tiny tattoos — Small, delicate pieces are what walk-in days are made for. More on our Fine Line page: https://www.slctattoos.com/fine-line-tattoos-salt-lake-city

First tattoos — A small first tattoo is the perfect walk-in. We explain everything before we start.

Large-scale work, detailed custom pieces, and cover-ups need a consultation and a scheduled session — better drawing time, better tattoo. If your idea needs that, we will set it up on the spot.

Before you come in

  • ID is required — Utah law: 18 or older, with a valid government ID — driver's license, state ID, military ID, or passport. No ID, no tattoo.

  • Have your idea ready — A photo, a screenshot, or a sketch speeds everything up. Simple designs can be drawn for you when you arrive.

  • Check in at the desk — We pair you with the first available artist and price your piece up front, before you commit to anything.

  • Plan for an hour or two — Most walk-in pieces are done in a single short session. Eat first, bring water.

Why SLC Tattoos

SLC Tattoos is the crew at 145 South 400 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84111 — ten artists in one downtown shop, covering everything from fine line to blackwork to full color. More artists means more same-day openings than a one- or two-chair shop can offer, and a licensed, sterile station for every piece, planned or spontaneous.

Questions, answered

Do you take walk-ins every day?

Whenever an artist has an opening, yes — but walk-ins are first come, first served and fill up. Your best bets: come in early, or book a confirmed same-day opening here: https://slctattoos.as.me/sameday

How long is the wait for a walk-in?

It changes by the hour. Some days you sit right down; busy days can mean a wait. The front desk will tell you straight when you check in — and if today does not work, we will book you a time that does.

Can I choose my artist?

Walk-ins go to whoever is free first — that is the trade for speed. Want a specific artist? Book them ahead and their chair is reserved for you.

What do I need to bring?

Your government ID (18+ only), any reference images for your design, and payment for your session. A meal beforehand and a water bottle help more than you would think.

How much will my walk-in tattoo cost?

Price depends on size, placement, and detail, and the front desk quotes it before we start — no surprises. For an exact price on custom work, send your idea through the estimate form and get a real bid from an artist: https://slctattoo.zapier.app/quote

I want something big — can I still walk in?

Come in and talk to us, absolutely — but big pieces, sleeves, and cover-ups get booked after a consultation so your artist can draw them right. We can start that process the day you walk in.

Any aftercare advice for Utah weather?

Our dry climate and high-altitude sun are the two things to respect. Moisturize lightly and often, hydrate, and keep a healing tattoo covered from direct sun — at Salt Lake City's elevation, UV is stronger and fresh tattoos fade and burn fast. Your artist will go over full aftercare before you leave.

Where are you located?

145 South 400 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84111, downtown. Street parking nearby on 400 East, and TRAX stops within a short walk.
